SANTO DOMINGO. – El concejal del Distrito 17 del Bronx, Rafael Salamanca Jr., se encuentra en República Dominicana acompañando al alcalde de Nueva York, Eric Adams, como parte de una delegación oficial en respuesta a la tragedia ocurrida el martes 8 de abril en la discoteca Jet Set, donde han fallecido al menos 226 personas y otras tantas resultaron heridas.
Salamanca Jr. expresó que el dolor de esta catástrofe trasciende fronteras: “Desde Nueva York nos unimos al duelo de las familias afectadas. La comunidad dominicana siempre contará con nuestro respaldo”. Durante su estadía, participó en actos oficiales, incluyendo una visita a la zona cero y una reunión con autoridades de seguridad y emergencias.
La agenda del edil incluye una misa con el Arzobispo Monseñor Ozoria, encuentro con el Ministro Eduardo Estrella y una visita privada a la familia de un detective retirado del NYPD fallecido en el colapso. También sostuvo una reunión con el Director del COE, Juan Manuel Méndez.
Este gesto solidario refuerza los lazos entre Nueva York y la diáspora dominicana, reconociendo la importancia de brindar apoyo en momentos de crisis.

SANTO DOMINGO – Bronx District 17 Councilman Rafael Salamanca Jr. is currently in the Dominican Republic as part of the official delegation led by NYC Mayor Eric Adams, following the tragic April 8 incident at Jet Set nightclub, which left at least 226 dead and dozens injured.
Salamanca stated, “The tragedy that struck the Dominican people is deeply felt by all of us, no matter where we are. From New York, we stand with the families affected and reaffirm our commitment to the Dominican community.”
His visit includes official activities such as a ground zero memorial with Mayor Adams, meetings with emergency authorities, and a private visit to the family of a retired NYPD detective killed in the collapse. A special mass and discussions with local leaders are also planned.
This humanitarian mission strengthens ties between New York and the Dominican diaspora during this time of mourning and need.
