Presidente de FOTS DOMINICANA LLAMA A APORTAR A LA SALUD SEXUAL FEMENINA EN EL NOROESTE

El presidente de Fots Dominicana, Franklin Onésimo Tavárez Sánchez, llamó a una acción firme por la salud sexual en el Noroeste dominicano, especialmente en Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, Montecristi y Dajabón, donde muchas mujeres ejercen el trabajo sexual sin protección ni educación adecuada.
Según datos del Ministerio de Salud Pública, más del 40% de las ITS en el país se detectan tarde. En algunas zonas, solo el 30% de las trabajadoras sexuales reciben atención médica periódica, y hay un aumento preocupante de casos de sífilis y VIH.
Tavárez insta a las autoridades y a la sociedad a romper el silencio y actuar con firmeza: controles médicos, entrega de preservativos, educación sin prejuicios y apoyo psicológico, como tareas urgentes para proteger vidas.
“El futuro del Noroeste depende de la salud de sus mujeres. Si queremos un pueblo sano, debemos hablar claro y actuar ahora”, afirmó el CEO de Fots Dominicana.

Franklin Onésimo Tavárez Sánchez, CEO of Fots Dominicana, issued a strong call to improve sexual health in the Northwest of the Dominican Republic, particularly in Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, Montecristi, and Dajabón—areas where many women engage in sex work without access to health services or proper education.
According to the Ministry of Public Health, over 40% of STIs in the country are detected in late stages. In some provinces, only 30% of sex workers receive regular medical checkups, and there has been a troubling rise in syphilis and HIV cases.
Tavárez urges authorities and civil society to act: implement health checks, distribute condoms, educate without stigma, and offer psychological support. These steps are crucial to saving lives and building healthier communities.
“If we want a strong and healthy Northwest, we must protect the health of our women. The time to act is now,” said the Fots Dominicana CEO.
