R\"\"esidentes de Manzanillo, en el municipio de Pepillo Salcedo, provincia Montecristi, denunciaron este lunes que gran parte de la comunidad no recibe agua potable debido a las condiciones obsoletas del sistema de acueducto, con m\u00e1s de 80 a\u00f1os de antig\u00fcedad. Aseguran que el sistema no tiene capacidad suficiente para abastecer a la poblaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Frank Valenzuela, presidente del Centro Bah\u00eda de Manzanillo para el Desarrollo Regional (CEBAMDER), explic\u00f3 que el acueducto fue construido por la Grenada Company, filial de la United Fruit, en los a\u00f1os 40. En ese entonces, garantizaba suministro constante a viviendas, centros educativos y hospitales.<\/p>\n

Sin embargo, desde la salida de la empresa en 1966, el sistema fue abandonado por el Estado, lo que ha causado d\u00e9cadas de deterioro, incluyendo cloraci\u00f3n deficiente, bombas fuera de servicio y tuber\u00edas corro\u00eddas.<\/p>\n

Residents of Manzanillo, in the Pepillo Salcedo municipality of Montecristi, reported on Monday that most of the community lacks access to potable water due to the outdated water system, which is over 80 years old. They claim the system can no longer meet the town\u2019s needs.<\/p>\n

Frank Valenzuela, president of the Bah\u00eda de Manzanillo Center for Regional Development (CEBAMDER), explained that the system was originally built by Grenada Company, a United Fruit subsidiary, in the 1940s and once provided constant water supply to homes, schools, and hospitals.<\/p>\n

However, since the company\u2019s departure in 1966, the government abandoned the system, leading to decades of neglect with sporadic chlorination, broken pumps, and corroded pipes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
